Ableton Serato The Bridge

Ableton and Serato bridge the gap between music production and DJing with The Bridge. The Bridge requires Serato Scratch Live 2.1.1 and Ableton Live/Suite 8.2 or above. Open both programs at the same time with Rane hardware attached to activate The Bridge online.

Remix Your Own Tracks Live

The Bridge gives you turntable-style control of your own multitrack productions. Simply drag an Ableton Live Set to a deck in Scratch Live and use your turntables or CDJ to control the transport. Scratch Live enhances your productions with deck control, mixing, nudging and DJ style looping, while you can remix, mute/solo tracks, use virtual instruments, change drum patterns, manipulate audio, tweak effects and launch loops on the fly in Ableton Live.

Welcome To The Next Level

Apart from your Scratch Live hardware, using an additional dedicated controller such as Akai Professional APC40, APC20, or Novation Launchpad opens up your game for more mixing, effects handling and for triggering clips.

Learn How To Set Up Your Gear

If you're just getting started with Ableton Live, you'll want to go through the Ableton Live lessons, located inside the program in the Help View

The World

Behind the scenes, Ableton and Serato have implemented a two-way communication link to connect the programs. The timing is tight and it doesn't matter which program you open first.

Public beta vr.2.0 will be out sometime this week. So when you sign the agreement,DO NOT POST VIDEOS until it is made public. You can still take it to the club or where if you feel its stable. Ableton and Serato present The Bridge

The Bridge

Part one of the Serato / Ableton Partnership

Ableton and Serato present The Bridge - the first result of the partnership announced in October 2008.

Take it to The Bridge

The Bridge spans the gap between music production and DJing, creating a natural link between Ableton Live and Scratch Live or ITCH. The Bridge provides a powerful fusion of DJ and production tools, opening a world of opportunities for DJing, remixing and live performance.

MIXTAPE

Play your mix rather than cut and paste in a DAW. Forget about having to start a mixtape from scratch because of a mistake at minute fifty-nine. The Bridge is the ultimate mixtape creation tool, letting you export your Scratch Live or ITCH mix as an Ableton Live set. Depending on your Serato hardware setup, fader movements, EQ tweaks and Crossfader cuts on your DJ mixer are recorded as automation and can be edited after the tape stops rolling.
Before you start your DJ set, choose save as “als" from the recording menu within Scratch Live/ITCH. Instead of recording an audio file, you'll get a fully automated Ableton arrangement, complete with song placement and automation data.

Ableton to Serato

The Bridge provides Ableton Transport Control (ATC), a whole new way to DJ Live. Control Ableton Live with a turntable, CDJ or ITCH controller. Scratch Live or ITCH provides deck control, mixing, nudging and DJ style looping; Ableton Live lets you remix multitrack files, mute/solo tracks, use virtual instruments, change drum patterns, manipulate audio, tweak effects and launch loops in real time.
Mix your beats into your DJ sets. Stay ahead of the competition with the freshest re-edits. Audition new productions. Change your mix or add effects in real time. Whether you're performing, backing a vocalist, MC or playing with a live band, you can manipulate your multitrack sessions in Ableton Live on the fly using your decks to control Ableton Live's transport - see what makes your crowd move.

Akai Professional MPD26 Winter NAMM 2010 Demo

The new MPD26 pad controller meshes USB controller capability with the feel and performance of an MPC unit. You get a bank of 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads plus assignable Q-Link faders and knobs. You can actually access four sounds from each MPC pad, for a total of 64 sounds at your fingertips at a time. Dedicated transport controls make it easy and effective to work with your DAW. The MPD26 comes equipped with many built-in features from the MPC, so it works as both a control surface and as a groove production workstation.

Serato Scratch Live 2.0.0 live demo - 3 decks with control-vinyl and DJ-FX

Serato SL3 version 2.0 beta - now with three or four decks! 3 or 4 turntables in Serato, finally! AND effects. You the DJ-FX module allows for midi-assignable Braker, Crusher, Delay, Echo, Flanger, HPF, LPF, Phaser, Repeater, Reverb, Reverser and Tremolo. You can potentially use six effects per channel simultaneously, as they're arranged in two sets of three and can be multi-channel assigned. Big things are a-coming for sure...

Ok, so my scratching's not up to that much, but this SL3 Scratch Live 2.0.0 beta live demo shows you what you can roughly do (and this is without a midi controller). Quite clearly the world is your oyster - especially for those with Ableton Live when 'The Bridge' comes out.
